DRAW UP A BALANCE SHEET FOR THE YEAR ENDING

DRAW UP A BALANCE SHEET FOR THE YEAR ENDING

On Christmas Eve, I looked back on the year that was coming to an end. My family and I wrote a balance sheet of the year. I included gratitude and also what I didn't like best, but would like to build on in 2024. What a wonderful experience!

WHY DID I DO IT?
Time passes quickly, and when you live in the moment, the only thing that matters is the present.
But when is it important to look back?

  • When you want to learn how to be grateful
Let's first look at what gratitude is: gratitude is a deep emotion of recognising and acknowledging the blessings and positive elements in our lives. It is basically about embracing the moment and expressing gratitude for the things we already have.

An example from my own life in the FAMILY sphere:

This time we dedicated Christmas Day to the extended family, going out for a family lunch and dinner in one day. My husband's family in the morning, mine in the afternoon. Lots of people and lots of different energies and diverse perspectives. Pure pleasure, because this time I went to both meetings out of sheer gratitude that I have so many people in my life to visit. Most of all, I turned into one big ear and listened, commenting very little and learning as I observed the different attitudes.

  • When you want to learn from life experience
Learning from life experiences is essential for personal growth. Learning from the past is important for the present. These experiences, whether positive or challenging, offer valuable insights into your strengths, values and decision-making. They build resilience, compassion and wisdom, contributing to continuous self-improvement and maturity.

An example from my life in BUSINESS:

13 years ago I was organising weddings, I was successful but not focused enough, which was to be expected because I had two small children and, above all, I didn't know how to listen and like myself. After nine years, I finished that story. I have learnt a lot over the years, especially from the experience I gained on my first independent journey.
Today, I am emerging as a successful entrepreneur, more focused and more in love with myself and life than ever before.

And IMPORTANT: this is not a criticism of what I did in the past, because I did the best I could then, with the knowledge and awareness I had then.

  • When you want to be motivated to go even higher
Every year, I make changes in all areas of my life.

An example from my life in the FINANCIAL field:

This is an area where I have noticed a lot of patterns from the past, so it is important for me to get new information, knowledge, ideas on how to move forward year after year.

I've changed quite a few things in the last year:
- I affirm daily, “I AM FINANCIALLY FREE.”
- Whenever I am closer to complete financial freedom, I run to the mirror and thank myself.
- I started keeping track of what exactly was coming into the family and personal budget and what the monthly outflows were.
- I have opened two savings accounts, one is an “energy savings” account - I regularly deposit 10 % of my income into this account and do not use the money I save from this account.
- The second account is the short-term investment account - I regularly deposit 10 % of my income into this account and withdraw money from this account for current investments.
- I review my monthly outflows and look for opportunities to save.
- I only use my credit card when travelling abroad.
- I invest a minimum amount each month in a long-term investment.
- I know how to say NO.
- I work regularly with two mentors from the business world.

Having done my annual balance sheet, I can be thankful that my financial freedom is slowly changing. I am happy to have made progress in one year, and I would like to learn even more about financial freedom next year.

Motivation for 2024 on the financial front:
- I add regular visualisations to the affirmations. Visualisations are the most powerful energetic tools to achieve a stronger high vibration.
- Several times a day I tell myself in the mirror PETRA, I AM HERE AGAIN.
- In another account for short-term investments - I add +10 % for a safety reserve = a total of 20 % of my income is regularly transferred to this account; this money is for current investments, for unforeseen outflows, for the indulgence of my soul.
- The credit card stays in the drawer forever.
- I choose investments I know.
- I'm in regular training, I learn from my mentors, I read books.
- I say NO to others and YES to myself more than once.
- I know that I deserve financial abundance, so my income is growing daily.

After the annual review, I focus on achievements and motivate myself to make progress.

HOW DID I DO IT?
I did the annual balance sheet in the family circle, mainly to avoid complicating things and to motivate by example.

WRITING

In a quiet environment, I took a piece of paper, calmed down, connected and began to write in bullet points what I remembered from 2023.
I kept it short and simple. Why complicate my life if I don't have to.
The written word remains forever and comes true because it is written down, and is given additional power.

SHARING AND LISTENING

After the balance sheet was drawn up, I shared my view of 2023 with my family members and the most important part was listening. The family members reminded me of other items that I had forgotten to add to my balance sheet.
By sharing and listening, I have been an example to my family.

CONGRATULATIONS AND PRIDE

At the end I went to the mirror, congratulated myself and was happy, proud that I had insisted that writing the family balance sheet was on the agenda on Christmas Eve. Although my family members were not very enthusiastic about my idea at first, it turned out to bring a lot of good humour and relaxation to our house.

TRY IT, THERE'S ALWAYS TIME FOR A NEW BALANCE SHEET FOR YOUR YEAR!
